I would like to study in Australia. What should I do?
Visit our office and speak with one of our highly trained and friendly Case Managers who will help you to choose the course, college or university which will best suit you. If you’re unable to visit our office submit your enquiry online and we will contact you.
Why should I study in Australia?
Australia’s education and training institutions offer very high quality courses which are internationally regarded. Australian Government legislation requires all institutions to be registered and to meet quality assurance measures. This means all institutions have to meet standards of excellence in teaching, facilities, support services and research.
When is the best time to apply?
After you have spoken to one of our Case Managers and have decided on the course that best suits your needs, you should apply as soon as possible. English schools, High Schools and Colleges have intake dates which vary, but closing dates for tertiary institutions are generally 1st December for Semester One and 1st June for Semester Two. It is best to apply early so you don’t miss out.
What do I do once I have received an offer letter?
You need to accept the offer and pay the first semester fees and the overseas student health cover. This will then enable you to obtain the confirmation of enrolment (COE) which is required by the Australian Government prior to the issuing of your student visa.
What is overseas student health cover (OSHC) and must I have it?
Yes, all international students are required to purchase Australian overseas student health cover in order to obtain a student visa. This insurance covers your for hospital visits (100%) and for doctor’s fees (85%). It also provides you with a Free 24 hour telephone service for emergency and legal advice. Please note, this medical insurance only covers you while you are in Australia, so you may need to maintain the health insurance you already have in your own country.
What is credit exemption and can I apply for it?
If you have previously completed or partially completed studies towards a recognised tertiary qualification you may be eligible for exemptions for part of the course for which you are now applying. If you are awarded credit, you must still be enrolled as a full-time student as a requirement of your student visa.
Can I work in Australia while I am studying?
Yes, you are allowed to work while studying but there are certain conditions on your student visa which you must follow. International students are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week during academic semesters and to work full-time during semester vacation periods. Please ensure that when you are planning your finances you do not rely on part-time work to support you while you study. It may take you some time to secure part-time and/or vacation work that will fit in with your study timetable. Your educational institution will not alter your timetable to fit in with your work schedule.
What can I do in my spare time?
There are many activities on offer to international students to make their Australian experience more enjoyable and fulfilling. Colleges and universities offer fun activities where you can meet staff and other students in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. There are many beautiful locations to explore on weekends and during semester breaks and also lots of free activities to attend.
Remember, we know what it’s like to study, work and live in Australia because we are Australian.
